What is the trick to getting the drivers side wiper to stick to the glass. It makes the sweep and about 60% thru, it leaves the windshield. I replaced the original wipers (with the wind deflectors) a while back, but kept them in case.

I had the same problem with my '93 GLT. My solution was to take the arm off. I clamped it into a big vise with 2 pieces of wood and rags to protect the paint with the hole pointing staight to the ceiling and clamped between the angles of the arm. I then used a large crescent wrench with rag padding on the hole end and gave a few gentle leans on it. Be very gentle because the arm looks and feels like some alloy material. Result: wiper is flat on the glass for the entire arc of the wipe.

Good Luck,
Daniel

Do a search on this site for that issue. It is a common problem with 850's. There are basically two approaches. One is to press down on the arm to "flex" it back into position. The other involves removing some material from the stop, which allows the arm to maintain contact with the windshield. I combined both methods, flexed it first to return to its normal shape and then removed some material from the arm stop. There was a fairly detailed description of how to do that either here or a Bay 13.

I used the Bay 13 method too,it worked but a word of caution, the wiper arm kept working its way loose (twice)on me after the operation. It's NOT a good scenario when its pouring with rain and you're in the fast lane on the freeway watching your driver's side wiper slowly falling off. Suggestions for that fix are loctite and/or make sure the thread on the post is clean so the nut is gripping, apparently plastic catches in the grooves.

Rick.
