How to turn-off the 'check Engine Light' S80 2000

Hi everyone!
I have a year 2000 Volvo S80. The "check engine light" came on recently. The car receives regular maintenance. Does anyone know a 'quick-fix' to turn this sensor on the dash OFF? I'd like to avoid a costly trip to the mechanic.

I would not reset the check engine light without S80 2000

having it analyzed first. It could be something as simple as leaving the gas cap loose...or it could be something significant.

If you have no alarm messages, which would be a miracle for a Volvo, it should go out after driving a few times.

Unless you left the gas cap loose, there's a problem and the code(s) should be read and cleared once the problem is gone.

In the engine compartment there's a fuse box by the driver's side. Pull out the 5 amp fuse (I think it's for the ECM). This should temporarily switch the CEL off.
