Front End plastic shroud 850 Turbo Wagon 850 1996

Hi all,
I managed to knock off a kind of plastic tray that was attached under our car. It seems to have been under the radiator and other front end stuff. Attached with metal clips. Outside of accumulating a lot of gravel, does it have an importanat function? I amgoing to reattach it, but it may have had its attaching tabs broken off, and I want to know how urgent it is to replace it.
Thanks, Jim

I successfully reattached the broken plastic side bracket on mine with a 2 part epoxy. Still holding after a year.

Hey!!!! Who is this clown pretending to be me???

I've been on this forum for years, and I've never seen anybody impersonating another member before! :)

Anyway, I had one break on my old 740, and replaced it from the dealer. Not terribly expensive, if I recall correctly. Besides protecting the radiator, as Ching-Ho mentioned, it also aids air flow through the radiator and prevents mud and road-salts from getting into the engine compartment. Not urgent, but shouldn't be ignored either.

You should also check the radiator mounts and make sure the radiator
is not flopping around. The radiator mounts can be broken if you hit
something low (like a curb) too hard.

    Jim,

It is there to protect the radiator/condensor. It has 3 clips in the front and there is a horizontal tab in the rear to lock into the bottom of the radiator slot. There are 2 10mm bolts on each side to attach to the car frame.

Thanks all, I think a trip to the garage is in our future. It looks like we sheared off the tabs the bolts go through.
Hey Jim, my name is similar to yours and we even both live in NJ, but I'm not a clown. Get over it. Nice website BTW.

"I'm not a clown. Get over it."

I was KIDDING! (Did you see the smiley?) But that was a little harsh -- sorry.

        Anyway, welcome to the forum.

        "Nice website BTW."

Thanks. That's just part of my ongoing effort to share what little I know with anyone who could benefit from it.
