AC 'Bubbling' Noise, Dash Squeaks V70-XC70 1998

My 72l mile v70 has over recent months developed a bubbling or popping noise emanating from what seems to be behind and below the center dash vents. It only happens when the AC is running or for a bit after the AC has been shut off. It almost sounds as if metal was expanding or contracting or the fluid in the pipes was boiling.

Anyone else have a similar noise, and if so, was anything done to eliminate it?

Also there is a god awful squeak from just inside or behind the dash vents - like two pieces of plastic rubbing together or a squeaky bed spring. Anyone find a good way to eliminate dash squeaks?

Thanks for your help.

Bill

Very common topic. Use the search button on the bottom of this screen, and try "dash squeaks" as search terms. Also, see this thread from another forum:

I get the gurgle too every once in a while. My guess is that it is the drain pipe in the dash. Maybe the evap drain.

I have a 1998 V70 with exactly the same evap drip noise. I also asked this question but nobody ever told me I had a problem. There is no musty smell so there are no leaks. The condensation drips on the pavement. So I have to assume it is just the condensation dripping off the evap coils. OEM spends lots of money on Noise and Vibration on engine, driveline, and chassis but this one little drip has them all confused.
