Reset service light S40-V40 2003

The ignition key has 3 positions, the 3rd is when the engine starts. Turn key to position 1 (you will hear a click), then depress the odometer button. Hold the odometer button down while turning key to position 2 (you will hear a click). The service light turns on and wait a few seconds until the light starts blinking. At this point release the odometer button. The service light should now completely disappear.

    Hey,
    I just posted a similar question about this. The directions were a bit different that what you have posted here... what the dealer service dept. told me via a phone call, when I was questioning the validity of a 250 dollar oil change (15k service check). I will attempt what they instructed, if no luck, I'm going to try your directions. I will post my results.

      OK...
      the results are in:

      I tried the dealer's way -- no luck.

      I tried the way posted above and success, no more service light in my face at startup. I think the only discrepancy, well.. clarification really, is to let off of the odometer button when it is still blinking, not after it blinks and then stops again. Maybe I read it wrong, but that's what worked for me.
