What Type Of Oil To Use In Tampa, Florida Climate? 850 1993

I've been getting mixed messages as to what type of engine oil
to use in my recently acquired 1993 850 GLT. It's pretty steamy
here in the summer (high 80's), and 60's - 70's during the winter.

Thanks if anyone can straighten me out.

Well lads, there still seems to be a range of opinions regarding
engine oil, although I received a loud negative sermon from a friend
about using synthetic oil. I'm going to a Vovlo dealer in a few days
to check OEM front brake pads, (as the previous owner had recently installed
pads that howl continuously), and get a verdict on this oil matter.

I'll let you know what Volvo Village has to say.

Thanks!

I'd use 0W-30, 5W-30 or 10W-30 synthetic, preferably with PAO base.

Thumbs,
I live in the Tampa area and have been using Mobil 1 in the 10W-30 grade for the last 8 years in my 3 Volvos (1 N/A and 2 turbos). Change oil between 5 and 7K with no problems.

Do what the owner's manuel says: 5w-30 preferably pure synthetic motor oil.

I didn't start synth oil in my 97 850 until 50k and have zero leaks at 83k. Treat your car well and it will run well.

I use castrol 10-40W in all my bricks. I would be afraid to change to synthetic oil in a high mileage vehicle, as I read that synthetic oil might "clean up old gunk" around seals, and you start leaking oil.
