96 850 pollen/cabin filter?

I went to replace the pollen filter in my 96 850 (the one shown in bay 13) and when i took the plastic up there was no filter there. I can only assume there should be one as the guys down at the auto store sold me one. I'm some what confused, i did buy the car used about 10k ago. The only thing that is there is the tube that goes down and a fliper that goes down (and then back up) when i push it a tad.

    96 850 pollen/cabin filter?

Cabin filter was a dealer installed option on the 850 series, so not all cars will have one. You will need the adapter as frank mentioned.

    96 850 pollen/cabin filter?....need 'kit'

You need a "kit" sold by a dealer. It's a piece of plastic that simply fits over that opening and holds the filter element. It's the same part used in '98-'00 X70s. It might cost about $30 but IMO, it's a good idea to install one as it keeps alot of debris away from the Evap.
