rough mornings 850

Most mornings, or most times i havent started my 850 turbo in a few hours, it runs really rough and shudders, not a comforting feeling. However it goes away after i drive it. My car has about 124k on it. It had its 120k service but needs a new timing belt fairly soon. I realize that there could multiple causes. Where should i start looking? timing belt? injectors? Please help!

Thanks
Mark

The car will also run rough with heavier than normal oil weight in cold weather because the oil is not as fluid, i.e. 10w-40 vs 5w-30. It may also be that you need a tune up. I made the mistake when I was a teenager of putting 20w-50 racing oil in my car because the engine burned oil and I thought it would help--thinking racing was a good thing. No one ever told me that it was for track use only. So, in the winter when I fired it up, the 8 cylinder sounded like it was using only 2, very rough starting, and created a lot of unneeded wear on the engine.

I never have that problem in my 850 and we get some pretty cold days. I run what the manuel suggests.

My 850 has been running rough in the cold for years. After a few minutes runs like a top. I am not sure if this is a volvo problem or not, but I have lived with it. The car is highly maintained and I can't find any problems with injectors etc.

The Turbo engine needs time to warm up...it's common with Volvo. Is this a new problem, or has it been occurring for a while?

My 93(207000 miles) starts hard in am as well.I too would like to have the answer you seek. When it warms up it will start fine rest of the day, it is the overnight cold engine which gives me fits about start up. I am suspect of lawnmower syndrome as fault.(Dirty valves stem body hanging up in valve guide).I run mobil 1 10 - 30 and my rpm cranking is fine in am. I read elswere to have psi checked in fuel system imperative to maitain psi at shutdown and hold pressure in system. check the fuel pressure regulator for leaks at vacum hose point.I have not done this as yet but intend to do so.
