Seat motor failure...what to check? 850

Well after 8 years and 150k miles my thigh motor has stopped working. When I move the thigh adjustment part of the switch, I hear a click both in the raise and lower position. Every other motor works fine. I recently had my seats removed for a carpet refurbishment, but it worked well until now. Any cheap way to fix? Or troubleshoot to start? Thanks in advance.

Seat motor failure...what to check? 850

My dad's Z3 had a "failed motor" in the fully eleveated position (he's 5'0") and the kind dealer offered to replace the entire "works" for $800. I removed the seat, careful to disconnect some sensors related to the air bag and with a wrench was able to loosen the stuck worm gear.

    Just something to consider.

I saved him $100 by only charging $700.
