850 20 valve auto 'notchy' throtle pedal

my 95 850 seems to havea 'notchy' throttle pedal..its a 20 valve auto with cruise control...

its like you have to press quite hard and when you overome the resistance it 'jumps' to the next peice of resistance...

I aim to lubricate the bearing points on the pedal itself and onthe throttle butterfly...

any other ideas...?

I assume the cable is nylon lined so lubrication would be a seriously bad idea...

The throttle body needs cleaning, if your engine is naturally aspirated (non-tubo)clean the flame trap at the same time.
