On w occasions I have been almost unable to start my 1994 850. Both times I just had to crank away, trying not to overheat the starter, an little by little it sputtered to life. Once running I have no problems. Starts right up the next time./ What could this be caused by? thanks, Larry
One time this happened during warm weather, and once during freezing weather. I put gas line antifreeze in the tank the second time.

The service light has recently come on , apparently unrelated to the dard starting episodes. Is this just a periodic thing, reminding me about maintainance or does it indicate a problem?

Larry 850,s are bad about the lifter,s sticking, If you move them short distances like out of the garage and shut it down with out giving it a chance to warm up. I see it all the time pepole even have them towed in for this.

best bet is when you start the car even if you just need to move it out of someone,s way let it run for a few minutes it allows the lifters to pump up

if it does get stuck it helps to hold the gas pedal to the floor while cranking.
