S70 Transmission Prob and Codes S70

Hi -- I've got a '99 S70 that recently had the original battery die. No sweat, really. Jumped the car, bought a new one, and now starts up like a champ.

However, since jumping it (which I have since heard may be an issue), the amber low-gear light is flashing, with the Check Engine light on as well. The car also is stuck in the "safe mode" where it starts off in 2nd gear. Drives fine once up to speed, but is a pig when moving from a dead stop.

I brought it to a local shop, and they found two codes:

P0605 - ECM/PCM memory error (internal control module ROM error), and
P1618, which neither they knew, nor the Brickboard reference had listed.

Not being sure what they were looking at, they did the right thing and didn't mess around with it, nor tried to sell me some repair that may not work. Any thoughts how bad this could be or what the problem may be? Anything I could do before bringing to the dealer? Thanks.

EBR

S70 Transmission Prob and Codes

I am having similar problems. My S70 works fine and then for no apparent reason shifts into winter mode and I can't get it out . The upshift light is always on and the trans behaves just like the winter mode should. If I turn the car off it won't start when it is in this fault mode. If you learn anything let me know. I will post any solution that I find

did they clear the codes? and, if so, did the problem persist?
