engine top mount..HELP...

Engine upper mount is shot... (95, 850 2.5 20 valve na, auto)

got a replacement from the dealer, pressed the old mount out (absolutely no problems)...CANT get teh new mount back in! it would appear to be 2-3mm bigger in diameter than the old mount (the outer circumference AND the inner core)

I have tried everything I can think of (including making a bar presxs and BENDING a 1/4"*inch and a quarter bar....)

is it possible the dealer has given me the wrong mount (for instance did the diameter change with a model year)?....

I cant refit the old mount because it came out in 2 pieces! can i drive the car wiht no mount..if so i will just take it to the dealer on monday and pay the $200 he wants to fit the mount...

I know it will compress on fitting...but it would have to loose perhaps 5mm in total to fit...surely it cant be right..if it is right anyone got any tips...

the dealer tells me they use a 10ton press to put them in...

    engine top mount..HELP...

I've pressed them in using a jury rigged hand press, bolts, washers
and a part from a garbage disposal fitting (really). On my 98 the
sleeve on the car has a chamfered edge on the side that faces the
driver's side of the car. Press it in from that side (I'm not
sure if 95's have this). This slight flange helps to get it
started. Once started it can be pressed in fairly easily.
It's the first 10 mm that are difficult!

Note the new part has an arrow on it for orientation. Make sure
you press it in correctly. (I forget if it faces up or forward
or what is the correct orientation.)
