Does anyone know some typical local sources where I can likely find some felt tape to use under dash (squeek prevention) ?

Go to a store like Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michaels and get the self-stick 8.5 X 11 flannel sheet.

The black looks exactly like what is already there--all you have to do is cut and place. FYI many of the dashboard creaks and pops are caused by loose or improperly torqued fasteners.

I used it to wrap the connectors for the radio that were tapping against the housing. When I added the CD player I noticed that the connectors were wrapped in foam. So, I guess Volvo figured it out finally too.

I have always found that self-sticking Velcro (the soft side) works well for what you are looking for. Try looking in a hardware store for this and other types of self-sticking pads.
