tranny problems!! 850 1993

I have a 93 850 with 115,000 miles (about 35,000 on new engine after timing chain broke!). I have always had great success with flushing tranny when it starts to stick, but this time I'm not sure. It began sticking and quickly (couple of days) went from useable to grinding, burning and no forward motion. I had it flushed yesterday and it was not much better as I drove off (but I could move forward). The gears that usually work, L and 3, were grinding terribly, and D didn't work at all. This morning it seems to work a little better (3 works, D doesn't), but at a point I needed traction I was SOL. Is this something that will improve as the new fluid circulates, or am I looking at spending more $$? Is it easy to replace the PNP switch? Are rebuilt trannys more available now than when I first starting having problems (6 years ago)? Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the tranny is shot. Did you pull codes? They really don't open these things up and rebuild them. If this is the original tranny on your 93' then I would say that you were extremely luck to get this many miles on it. I believe that the 93's are well known for tranny failure. Volvo sells rebuilds, but I don't think Indy shops like to touch them. I have read lot's of advice against getting a used tranny, but I guess it depends on how long you want to keep the car.
