On a recent morning, with temp about 6F, I hit the rear window wash, and the wiper stroked very slowly once, stalling as it approached the park position. Upon returning home in the heat of the day (25F), I checked the fuse (intact) and then had my wife hit the switch while I held the wiper blade off the glass. The wiper began operating normally. I released it, and it continued to work fine. (She has driven the car daily since then and noticed no problem with the wiper.) Today, with the temp in the mid-30s, I hit the wash again and got the slow single stroke.
Both times this has occurred, the window has been dry, but coated with the distinctive blend of road salt and grime popular in the Great American Rust Belt.
Is this a sign that the wiper motor is failing? Any suggestions for other causes?
