Hi,

I have a 2000 S80 non-turbo. During idle, the car revs up and down from 500 rpm to 1000 rpm during idle, so the car jerks forward. This only occurs with the A/C turned on. The Volvo dealership couldn't fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

Simple...... S80 2000

Cured by software at your dealer. There's a TNN on the subject and any decent Volvo dealer tech should know about the software cure.

Check and see if the A/C clutch is turning on and off. If so maybe you are low on freon.

This same thing occurs on my 2000 s80. I
t is the clutch turning on and off that creates the surge but I believe it is normal. On a very hot day it should cycle less since it will work longer between intervals to shut on and off. On a mildly warm day it may cycle more frequently since it works nots as hard to cool.
