Production Runs

When does Volvo start their production runs for the next model year? I'm just wondering what is considered an early model vs a late model of a particular year. For example, is my 1998 S70 with a build date of 3/1998 considered early or late?

I'm asking because I see a lot of comments here concerning exactly when a particular model was produced.

geo1,

Seems like the end of the '98 run. You can check the VIN information on Volvo's web-site www.volvocars.com under "Owners Circle."

My '98 has a build date of 01-97. It appeared on the dealer's lot at the end of March 1998 as a service loaner.

The 70 series is the 850 after a makeover. The most common model specific problems are minor and would have been taken care of under warranty. Check the Archive.

If you like the 850 you'll like the 70 series.

Bryan

In the U.S. you can sell next years model starting in April of the
previous year (so a couple weeks until the 2005s are available).
The 98 had a rather long run since Volvo first offered it in
April of 97 (that is when I purchased mine). I think 70 series/1998
is one of the longer model runs and I suspect they were shooting to
have the 70 series out as 97 models but missed by a bit.
