1997 850R OEM speakers - do they use crossovers/filters? 850

I'm upgrading the speakers in my 1997 850R wagon. It has, I believe the upgraded sound system with the 200W factory amplifier. I plan on putting 3.5" 2-ways in the dash, 5.25" midbass in the front doors and 6.5 shallow mount 2-ways in the rear doors. I'll probably leave the factory tweeters in the rear D-pillars.

My question. Given that the factory front door speaker is a mid-bass without a tweeter and the dash speakers are tweeters, is the audio signal being filtered so only the appropriate frequencies are hitting each speaker? I didn't see a bass-blocker (capacitor?) attached to the front door speakers. I haven't pulled the dash tweeters yet.

I'd like to know, as I guess I could go ahead and put a 2-way in the front doors to replace the mid-bass, but if the highs are being filtered out, then I'll only use another mid-bass. Would 2-ways in both the dash and doors be to bright, or should I stick with only a woofer in the doors (like OEM)?

I assume the full range is getting to the rears as they are 2-ways OEM.

Does the Dynaudio speaker package described fit a 1997 850? Also, I have the SC-815 head unit and I think it has an external amplifier, so is it necessary to upgrade to the 901 AND the external amplfier as described or would a 901 work with my external amp (assuming I have one... where is it?)

I wasn't really wanting to spend $1800 to upgrade. I was planning on spending much less, by simply replacing the factory speakers.

$25 for Infinity Reference 3.5" dash speakers (Ebay - already purchased)

$65 for Infinity Reference 6.5" shallow mount 2-ways for the rear doors. (Millionbuy.com)

$35 or $60 for 5.25" Lanzar Midbass VB54 or Infinity Reference 2-way, respectively, for the front doors. (Ebay or Millionbuy.com)

Most likely not as good as a Dynaudio system, but should be a significant improvement over OEM. I just need to figure out what frequencies are being sent to the front doors and dash.

The Dynaudio speaker package will fit in the 850.
I'm not familiar with the frequency "correction" equalization of the SC-815
but I dont think you'll have to replace it for now, just install your new speakers and it will improve(for sure)the sound quality of the whole system. The "free air" resonnant frequency of the OEM speakers are really to low to begin with: lack of definition & to "boomy". keep me posted
