1997 850 a/c problems 850 1997

The compressor on my 97 850 recently stopped coming on, I turn on the ac, but nothing happens. I tried it about 1 hour later, the compressor kicked on and the ac was ice cold. the compressor will not come on again now? Is there something I can do to fix this?
thanks

I'm gonna suggest that the problem is not freon related. If it works "great" or "not-at-all", it's not likely that it's low on freon. I'd lean towards the AC relay, or the low side pressostat...these are the cheapest of the electrical related "issues".

Sounds like its just low on freon. Add some R134 to the system and see how it does. Get one of those service kits with the gauge included. Stick the gauge on the low pressure side and turn on the A/C. If the gauge dips below 25 psi you need some freon.

It is located in the right front corner of the car, kind of by the washer reservoir fill tube. It has a 19mm plastic cap on it and takes 1.9Kgs. or two pounds of R134A, I would recommend putting some UV dye in it as well. Hook up your guages and see if the pressure is low, if it is then stuff a pound of 134 in it and see how it responds. Rule 308
