850 ticking noise 850

I have a ticking noise coming from under the hood when idling. It increased with the rpm, then I drove off and it has not come back yet. this is the second time this has happened. Can anyone help?

    light ticking is common on 850's especially cold, apparently it something to do with the hydraulic lifters and should go away once the cars warmed up a little. Volvo even mention this nothing to be worried about

    listen to the noise carefully and ensure it is comming from the head - tat will be the lifters.
