Noise on cold start 850 1996

For the past few months, after starting the car cold I hear a strange sound that last for several minutes. It sounds like a belt rubbing on something and it gets louder as you rev the engine. It seems like it's coming from the driver's side of the engine compartment. I had the car at the dealership last week for an O2 sensor and mentioned the noise to them. The service manager said that "if the sound goes away and it's not pulling code, forget about it."

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Driver's side? Most likely air pump, and it will eventually set a code for secondary air injection system. Basically it makes your car a green car. In theory, by putting air into the EGR (exhaust) system, your car, rather than putting out carbon monoxide, will make carbon dioxide. Get one used off of a newer car. Too expensive new.

Do you have an air pump ? They run only for 2 minutes when the car is COLD It's located under the battery

The airpump will run for 100 seconds when cold and will not increase with the engine RPM. There is a host of things that could make this noise on the front of the engine (passenger side) but I cannot think of any off the top of my head that would be on the driver's side. Something in the trans maybe?
