Slamming into 3rd gear (auto transmission) V70-XC70 2002

Hi. I've started to notice that on my wife's 2002 V70XC, it's really slamming hard into 3rd gear sometimes (it's an automatic). The car is 18 months old and only has 8000 miles on it. Should I be worried that this is the start of something horrible? Thanks.

    If memory serves US cars have a 4 year warranty. Take your car to the dealer and have it checked.

    It could be something as simple as ATF or a software upgrade, but it is not normal.

      hey i have a 96 850 auto and mine does the same thing but not as bad but it only does it when the car is really cold like in the winter, do you think this could be software too?

      My 2001 S40 had the same problem, extremely hard shifting. Took it in about 6 months ago and they updated the software.
