Question about SC810 radio 850 1993

Simply turning the radio dial to the on position does not always result in the radio turning on. The dial must be jiggled and repeatedly turned on and off to get the radio to work. When the proper connection is made the radio works just fine. However if one trys to adjust the volume once the radio is on the power is lost completely and the entire ordeal must be repeated. It has been suggested that there is some sort of sensor problem. Can anyone help? Can the unit be repaired? or does it need to be replaced?
Thank you

    Question about SC810 radio 850 1993

Before trading it in or buying a new radio, consider cleaning the radio knob shaft. Go to Radio Shack and buy a can of TV tuner contact cleaner (I think that's the name) and pull off the knob and spray into the metal shaft. Turn the shaft a few times and spray some more cleaner. That usually fixes the contact problem.

    Question about SC810 radio 850 1993

Trade it in with the dealer the and get yourself a SC-816 with the CD player in it, it's plug-n-play replacement. You can find one on Ebay or at the dealer for around $200. Call your local dealer and ask if they have a black faced SC-816 in stock (refurbished). I think mine was actually under $200 out the door after the exchange. Most Volvo dealers sell factory refurbished units with a one year warranty. You can't beat it for a bang-for-the-buck upgrade.
