blower fan doesn't work on High 850 1995

set it to speeds 1-3 and it works fine but put it on hi and it stops every time

- no squealing or weird sounds from the fan motor at all
- doesn't matter what the situation is either

- seems like a switch problem

anybody with experience on this?

blower fan doesn't work on High 850 1995

started to tear into it this morning and am taking a coffee break

so, it is not the fuse (#5-30A, replaced and double checked)

and it is not the switch- I took it apart and cleaned it, buffed the contact points - there was evidence that some arcing occurred at the #4 position on the contacts but upon reinstall the high speed still does not work but when i switch it over to 4 you hear a small electrical smooshy buzz for a second and a half that then goes away and it is coming from the area of the blower fan

i check out bay 13 passenger side trim removal and see the blower fan and mention of a ballast resistor (hmm is this for the lower speeds on the fan?)

so it leads me to believe that the motor connecctions need to be looked into or the ballast may need a peep

    wish me luck

These switches are usually a resistor network, with the HI position being straight thru without any additional resistance. Usually it is one of the lower speeds that dies cuz a resistor failed. Sounds like the switch contacts have failed on the high position. Sounds like a new switch, but pull the old one and check the contacts for obvious open or blocked circuits. Have fun.

If I remember correctly, there is a seperate fuse for the high setting on the blower. Check your your owners manual for the fuse panel lay out to see if I am remembering correctly and if so, then the fuse.

High does have a separate fuse.
