Just replaced mine yesterday. Bought struts from FCP Groton. $40 dollars for two and shipping $6.50. Follow instructions from Bay 13 as they are much better than Haynes manual. Took no more than an hour.

Yeah replace both tailgate struts. If one went bad the other won't be far behind. FCPGroton.com has them for $25 apiece, takes a day or two to get them.

It funny you ask that because I just ordered a new strut for my 850 also, it is very easy, there are two and you need to decide if one or both are broken, do you see leaking fluid around it?

Here's a link for the install instructions and the place to order it from, it's awesome, the shipping is free for over $50 and it only took 1 day, i ordered from them twice this year, the prices are good.
