    Oil Change on XC70 V70-XC70 2004

See: http://cvolvo.com/Central/Repair/B5254T.html This should answer all of your questions. Yes, you must remove the splash pan to access the drain plug and the filter.

It's on the back of the oil pan, always use a Mann or Volvo cannister style filter, you will need a special oil filter wrench, always use a new drain plug washer (they are called crush washers for a reason, they only crush well once), we use Mobile Synthetic Blend 10-30, but as long as you use a quality oil and do your changes I don't believe it matters overly much. Also...Volvo says every 7500 miles...ummm...no...at least every 5000 miles. Since you have a turbo, I would change every 3000, but that's me. Lastly, keep your receipts for your oil and your filter. You don't want to void your warranty because you did your oil changes.
