Drilling hole in bottom of air pump S70

I have read on this board that it is a good idea to drill a 1/8 inch hole in the bottom of the air pump. Is the easiest way to do this from the bottom and what needs to come off or any other info regarding doing this procedure.

I removed my pump using volvospeed.com info and then drilled the hole.
