Lug torque and suspension wear questions 850

Good day Bricks-

Can someone please advise the correct lug bolt torque
and if it on the car or in the manual somewhere?

Also, does anyone have any experience with worn suspension
parts? If so what has worn out, and at what mileage did you
replace it. Are there any known weak links in the 850 front
end- things that go out at around 100K, etc.

I ask because of endless steering wheel shimmy after having
4 wheels balanced, rotating fronts to back, and 4 new rotors
and new pads.

Thanks

Straighten out a coat hanger and attach it to a heavy block of wood or equivalent.

Jack up one side of your brick and position this block near one of the wheels. Bend the coathanger so that the tip of it is very near the edge of one of the rims. (You may have to experiment with the coat hanger in order to get it to stay still) Spin the wheel and look for rim movement in & out or up & down. If you see either, you have a problem.

BTW - Are the wheels Volvo wheels?

After torqueing each lug to 80lbs, check the shocks. Your shimmy could also be caused by bumps in the road. 100 - 125K miles is about a good life span.

The front stuts seem fine. Should I be checking the rear shocks
too even though the front end is vibrating. Also would it be possible
to have a rear rim that is bent causing vibration in the front end?
I would think that front rims could only be responsible for steering
      wheel shimmy

      Thanks
      John

Yeah I guess. We basically looked at them and cannot tell visually.
Is there a better way to tell if a rim is true?

Thank you for the 80lbs torque. Is that found anywhere on the
      vehicle?

      Thanks again

I don't think so. I made stickers for all my cars with lug nut torque settings and air pressure and put it near the driver's door hinge. Comes in handy.
