V40 1.9 engine vibration S40-V40

Hi

I own a 1999 v40 1.9D which has done 69,000. About 10,000 miles ago i noticed a vibration through the car including the pedals and steering. My local volvo dealers have repalced the engine mouns, fixed the ecg valve system and repalced the flywheel sensor in the gearbox. However the vibration remains. I have now been told that the vibration is common in diesels of my cars age, and as such should just accept the vibration.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the cause.

Thanks

I have a Volvo 850 GLE 2.5 which was in excellent order until I had both the timing belt and the drive belt changed (they were both due to be replaced) from this point on I had vibration through the pedals, steering wheel and an audible shuddering sound when idling in drive gear. The car functioned beautifully at open acceleration etc but it was off putting whilst idling at stop lights to feel and hear this shudder - I took it back to the mechanic and they replaced the idler pulley assembley, it was marginally better for a few days then back to normal problem. I have been hunting on the net for answers to this problem and have found similiar problems with both engines and they have determined it to be likely problems with the transmission - so that's my next job to tackle to check out the gear box - hope this might help.

    Regards,

    TC

Us folks "south of the border" don't have much access to the diesel versions. You might try having a compression test done to verify all 4 cylinders are producing the same power. If the dealer worked on your car and then told you it is common, he is full of it. Ask to check another 1.9D.
