I need an extra keyless remote for my 94 850, I see some on ebay can they all be reprogrammed to work on my car? Can the receiver on the car be reprogrammed as well; Volvo said the car came with 2 remotes and I only have one. Thank Win

    The remotes can all be programmed - plenty of previous posts on here how to do it by using the ignition.
    What do you want to reprogram on the receiver? AFAIK the only things you can change are silent/bleep and what flashes on arming. This can only be done by a dealer.

        If it's the Volvo Guard alarm then only things (in the UK) that can be changed are:-
        horn (fixed/pulsed), panic alarm (on/off), re-activation (on/off), acknowledgement light (on/off), and acknowledgement sound (on/off).
        These can be set by an authorised workshop with the appropriate equipment.

        I couldn't tell you offhand what frequency the remotes use.
        Similar to garage door openers - yes in the fact that you have a transmitter and receiver. But that's like any radio system.

          Thanks Coot; I was hoping that it would be as easy as programming a garage door opener but I guess the Volvo dealer wouldn't like that no $$$ for them, in your Case Pounds. Where are you in the UK any where near Northants? Win

            Just to reiterate...the blipper you press can be programmed to the car through the ignition, the receiver in the car is a dealer job.

            I'm in the north of England, near Leeds.
