850 cd player installation

Hey Guys!

Just bought the wife a 97 850 and was going to install a 6 disc cd player. The radio has the cd setting on it already and I was wondering if there was anything difficult about the hook up. I'm looking for an in-trunk unit and would appreciate any info on type or brand and difficulty of installation if any.

Thanks!

Henry

You'll need to find out which Alpine or Volvo units are compatible with your head unit, and what additional wiring or interface items are necessary. Check the search function at the lower right of the page, using something like 850 CD or CD installation. There's a lot of specific info already available in prior posts. You might also try searching using the model number of your head unit, plus "CD" and see what happens.
Good luck.

The CD button only works with a Volvo compatible changer. The radio is a piece of cake to pull out using the two pull buttons near the bottom of the stereo. If you haven't bought a changer yet...look on ebay for a changer...I picked my Volvo Factory Refurbished Changer up for $125.00 on ebay. Good luck

P.S. Don't mount the changer to the rear deck between the speakers...you lose a lot of spaced when trying to "make" things fit in the trunk.

I have the Alpine 6 CD changer mounted in the trunk. Circuit City did it easily. It does get in the way sometimes because it is mounted at the top between the speakers, but never had any problems with it. Cost about $300 then, is cheaper now.
