coolant sensor light on V70-XC70 1999

I recently purchased a used 1999 V70 w/ 91,500 miles. The coolant sensor light came on. Coolant levels are fine, no leakage found. Is there a quick fix for this, or should I take it to the mechanic?

Did you go over a big bump by any chance? I did in mine and it jolted the coolant level sensor out of place. Just pull the coolant reservoir up carefully, then push the sensor and wires back in to make sure they haven't dropped down.

Happened a couple of times on mine (last time was in Ireland - boy those roads are bumpy!)

The little radiator light is on? Only two things other than low coolant can cause that light. The sensor in the reservoir is whacked out; the coolant temp sensor is whacked out, but if this is the case the fan will usually stay on, and a check engine light will most likely show up soon. I'd opt for the sensor in the reservoir. Easy to replace, all by yourself.

A bad coolant temp sensor will NOT turn on the low coolant light. Usually a bad level sensor or a sticky float in the reservior.

I've had it do it twice, and I didn't understand it either, but both times the front fan was on...quirk or coincidence...who knows...but it happens.
