Replacing 'Gas springs' 850 1995

Dear Mama's trunk lid has suddenly gotten rather unwieldy for her to lift, and a handful to close without slamming. Does anyone have any pointers for replacing the struts?? Evidently I can reach behind the trim and under the strut to get at the forward mounting point, is it just that "simple" or is there a better way? Also, do you have any recommendations for sourcing the 3509350 normal duty part?

Yes, I'm a saaber, not a roller. But we are considering an S80 for the better half, so I've been getting aquainted with the Brickboard. TIA, Steve

Replacing 'Gas springs' 850 1995

I just replaced my trunk struts last week. Groton, $38 for the pair. Your fingers can reach the back of the strut to pop it up? Wow! I used a 1X1 board to pry it off and to push the new one back on.

Ja, thanks Klaus, I just saw the very brief write-up at Volvospeed website, the Bay13 maintenance links! Definitely a piece o' cake (he said hopefully)!
Ciao
