My volvo's ABS and Track Off lights are coming ON. What is that mean? Is it safe to drive and how much it might cost to fix the problem?

If the ABS/TRACS lights are not on all the time, it could also be the ignition switch. In that case if you wiggle the ignition switch it may turn off the lights. Also could be the alternator - with my car lights were coming on intermittantly. The code was saying not enough voltage to ABS circuit - but it was actually getting too much voltage. What is the error code you are getting?

Most likely your ABS Control Unit has failed. All of them will eventually fail after they reach 80,000 miles or 5 years.
Reading the codes costs about $125.00 and about 95% of the diagnosis are defective ABS control unit.

A new control unit will run you about $650.00 to $750.00 including labor.

The design is poor and was made worse when ATE modified it in later years.
The E5 Torx socket is available in tools stores.
