BLINKING LIGHTS ON CLIMATE CONTROL SWITCHES S70 1998

Hi all, on our S70 the red lights on the climate controls (recirculate switch & A/C on switch) blink for 20 seconds when the car is first started. However the A/C and heater seems to work well so what is the car trying to tell me?

Thanks in advance for replies.

My 1998 S70 T5 had the same condition and the solution was to replace the evaporator which was leaking. I believe the blinking lights indicated the low refridgerant load in my case...let us know what goes on with your car...

hi,
the flashing lights do mean that there is a fault code stored in the computer for the electronic climate control system, which needs to be read off with a volvo or generic scan tool (not vadis).the fixes that some of the other people have described will work but it depends on what the fault code is as it could be one of many so until you know that there isint a lot you can do about it.

Try this, it works for me. Find the little air sensor covered be little grille
on the right side of your control and blow in to it removing some of the dust on it. This works for me, hopefully you too.

Mine did this when a motor failed that diverts the air to different vents. A code has been stored in the onboard computer and needs to be read by the Volvo Vadis system.
