XC Radio Input Question - Satellite Radio V70-XC70 2004

I just bought a new XC70. The radio is the one that has cassette tape and single CD slot (no CD changer). I'm considering installing a satellite radio receiver.
Does anyone know if this radio has additional input connections - like RCA jacks? Don't want to tear into the dash just to check and the manual doesn't say. Some satellite radio units have RCA connections that will plug into aux inputs on a radio.
Has anyone added satellite radio to this unit? How did you connect it - FM modulator (wired or wireless), cassette, etc.? Are you satisfied with the fidelity of you set-up? The sales guy told me that the wired FM modulator gave the best quality.

TIA for any help.

XC Radio Input Question - Satellite Radio V70-XC70 2004

I agree with Steve. Be careful about adding any non-Volvo electrical accessory. You could do some serious damage. I'd suggest you contact Volvo or your dealer to ask them this question. BTW, I did remove the radio in my '04 XC70 in order to install the dash cup holder. I replied to a thread in this forum around mid-March on what needs to be done, so check the archive.

XC Radio Input Question - Satellite Radio V70-XC70 2004

hi,
dont know about the satellite radio part, but i do know that the radio on your vehicle does not have any rca plugs on it and as it is a CAN based module you cant just hook other non- volvo items into it and expect them to work.

steve.

XC Radio Input Question - Satellite Radio V70-XC70 2000

While it does not directly apply since my XC is a 2000, I have recently added a satellite reciever to my car. I have the head unit with the single disk and tape player ( I think it is the 816 unit.) I already have a cd changer that I didn't want to give up, but if you don't have a changer and your head unit is set up to accept one, there are a few things on the market that you can use. Two companies (Blitzsafe and PIE) make adapters that plug into the cd changer input on the head unit and give you set of RCA inputs. That way you can direct connect the satellite reciever to the radio. I'm not sure if they have them out for the 04's yet, but you can look at their web sites, or try www.xmfanstore.com, and look under aux. input adapters.

In my case, I used the wired fm modulator, plugged into the antenna jack on the radio head unit. I think the sound quality is very good. I have read a lot of people complaining that even the wired fm modulator is still not 'cd quality', but between road noise, tires, and whatever else is going on around a moving car, I don't think I would notice the difference. I've been pretty happy with it, and it makes a lot cleaner installation than the tape player adapters.
