Gear Shift Stick Sticks V70-XC70 1998

The Gear Shift Stick Sticks after we depress the flexible part and shift (automatic). No problem except when we park and the key won't release. Then we have to fiddle with the flexible part until it pops out into place.

HOW do we fix it? Do we have to take the whole Gear Stick apart and replace it?
If so, how?

Any body else have this problem?

(BTW, I now have found out how to get to the tiny bulbs in the orig. radio)

I've had problems with two things. The little shift lock release button getting somewhat stuck down, and the cable for the shifter loosening so that the car doesn't know that it's in park.
