ALL volvo 850's have knock sensors, Euros included. Your 231 is caused by the sensors (433 and 143) hearing some noise or they have failed. I don't know your milage, but suggest you change both sensors before you ruin something by running too rich. Besides, you probably on get 10 mpg right about now.

What engine?
The two knock sensors are located on the front facing side of the cylinder block under the inlet manifold according to my Haynes manual, so you may have them.
Code 143 is the front knock sensor signal absent or faulty.
Maybe there is a bad connector somewhere?

231 is long term fuel mixture too rich in part-load stage for the fenix 5.2, or too weak/too rich for Motronic 4.3
