GETTING TDC on cylinder ONE 850

I have a 1993 Volvo 850 and i am installing a new water pump. my real slow down tonight was the cam pullys to TDC. i found the notchs that i should like up with the gear notch. but i dont see where i am s upposed to line up on the gear. i see a W as the only marking on this thing, that is on both pullys, exept if i was to use this W as the marking it would line up w ith one but not the other gear, WTF. I move the whole timing belt to get tdc by turning the crankshaft with a wrench right ? .

so as it is my vehicle is up on jack stands and here i am waiting for the wise words about TDC .

also the timing b elt tensioner seems like it might be a bitch to work with. any tips ?

Simple as pie, what you want to do is find the notch on the crank dampner and line it up with the hash mark cast into the face of the oil pump. Once this is done, take a look at your cams and you will see that they are either lined up or 180 degrees out. The mark on the cam shafts is a pretty damn subtle affair and leaves alot to be desired. It should line up with the "V" shaped notch cut in your upper cover. The tensioner is a piece of cake just pull out the two 12mm bolts once you are at TDC, put the thing in a vice and slowly, in small steps, compress it until you can slide the pin it. If you simply stuff it in the vice and crank it down you run the risk of popping it like a zit.
