Where are the temp sensors? S70 1998

EEC lights blinking again after replaceing fan two years ago. Want to see whether temp sensors need cleaning. Where are they hiding? Thanks in advance!

To the right of the rotary climate controls you will see a vertical 'grille' about 4cm x 1cm. In the lower part of the grille is an aperture where the air is sucked past the sensor by a small fan. In my car the fan is not rotating setting the 2 leds to blink for 20 seconds after starting the car. I will soon pull out the sensor/fan unit and investigate further. By the way there was a 'blob' of fluff behind the grille at first and I thought by removing it the problem would be fixed. Had to hook out the fluff with a paper clip. However the fan still does not rotate even though it tries to a couple of times before the lights start blinking again.

Good luck with yours. - Phil

Thanks Phil! I guess when you said the sensor is on the right hand side of the climate control, you are not from North America! How can you reach down the opening let alone see anything inside? I will try to blow some air into it!

OOps. you are correct - it would be on the left hand side on your car! It's pretty hard to see down into the space where the fan is, I had to use a torch (flashlight to you) and angle it just so to see through the grille. If you are fishing around with a small piece of wire be careful not to damage the temperature sensor itself which is located on the axis of and in front of the fan and hard to see. The Haynes manual I have gives instructions on how to remove the complete unit from the rear. It is not that difficult to remove and I recall someone here saying that the Haynes manual is incorrect in part of the removal instructions. Good luck and let us know what you find. Do a search on climate control and you will find the post on that - it was only a couple of weeks ago.

        Cheers, Phil
