Engine noise at start-up 850 1996

I have a 1996 854R. There is a strange middle-pitched whining noise coming from the right side(front of the engine) of the car. It sounds a lot like a bad power steering pump but not quite because its not loud at all. I've already replaced the ATF fluid for the power steering with Mobil 1 ATF. This noise only happens when the engine is cold at start-up. It will make this noise for about a minute then it disappears. Always does this regularly. I've replaced the serpentine belt. Still the noise is there. What could be causing this? Could it be the air pump? where is the air pump located? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Engine noise at start-up 850 1996

If your 854R looks like the one in the picture, wow! Who cares if it makes a noise.
As for yours, it could be the water pump bearing. When did you last have the timing belt changed? If it's almost time, have the pump looked at too.

      Water pump?? 850 1996

My 854R has 110K miles right now and is due for a timing belt replacement at 120K miles. Could the water pump possibly be the culprit? As I said, its not a very loud noise but it is disconcerting. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get the timing belt replaced. I'll be sure to change the water pump as well. Thanks!
