Hello,

Recently my window washers stopped working suddenly... I am pretty sure it's not a clog because both sides stopped suddenly not just reduced flow. The pump motor runs when i pull the wash swicth, and yes I checked to make sure I am not out of fluid!

I looked under the hood to try and find a broken hose but it seems they run under some covering. Does anyone have advice about where these usually break and how to access the hoses?

The problem is the T-valve (aka check valve). These fail on a regular basis on approximately 100.0% of Volvos!

Dont forget to change the t-valve behind your right headlamp (if you have the winter package). You need long thin fingers to get access.

I just looked at my 854, and the hose comes up the pass side hinge to the hood. The T is under the insulation under the hood. Use a nickle to loosen the center fastener and you will be able to reach the T.

If you recently waxed the hood, it is probable that wax got in the nozzle and hardened. Use a small safety pin to remove the wax.

Thanks for the info - this did happen after going to the car wash, so maybe it's wax in there - good idea!

There is a T valve between the hood and the sound deadening pad. disconnect the feed line and see if you get fluid.

What is the sound deadening pad - the black material? Is it near the driver's side or passenger?

If you get fluid, replace the t-valve. Apparently this is a common problem.
