I am planning to flush the tranny on my '00 LPT C70 this coming weekend. The vehicle has 60k on it. I read on this site that '99 on up use a synthetic tranny fluid as opposed to Dextron III. Is this true? What should I use then?

5 speed auto = special oil C70

Only the 5 speed auto REQUIRES special volvo synthetic oil.

your best source is the owner's manual. It will tell you specifically what's indicated for your vehicle.

If you don't have one, get one off eBay for $10.

I've been very happy with Mobil 1. It works great in my C70.I've been using it for the last 80,000 miles. No problems, and the tranny still runs like brand new. The only draw back is the cost. It's about 4.50 to 5.00 bucks a quart, and you will need 18 of them!
