Steering wheel not central when driving straight ahead V70-XC70 2003

Help. I have a problem on my T5 that is bugging the hell out of me. When I'm driving straight ahead, the steering wheel does not line up with the plastic moulding between it & the dials, the wheel is always tilted slightly to the right. The car steers fine & the tracking has been checked by the dealer. They have suggested it may need a four corner alignment check, which will cost @150 pounds.
I am unsure if I should trust the dealer & pay the money, or if I should get more informed (hence the post).

It may seem silly, but I need to know what the best course of action is.

The problem is probably very simple. If the wheel has been like that for a long time, and not as a result of a recent event, and if the tires are wearing evenly, you could probably be happy with a simple toe-in adjustment, where they would shift the toe in adjustment one way on one side and the other way on the other side, centering the wheel, wile maintaining the same toe-in. If you're really adventuresome, you could do this yourself. I've done it. Just be sure you rotate each side the same amount. Mind the direction. You should be shortening one link while lengthening the other.

adjust tie rods equally to center steering wheel. It doesn't take much. When driving with wheel centered does it go left or right? If to right then turn passenger side in and drivers side out SAME amount.(if left do opposite) do a quarter turn on each at a time until correct.

What happens is alot of times they will only adjust one tie rod when doing alignment which causes steering wheel to be off.

good luck

150 pounds for an alingment! Gawd, 150 dollars is expensive, but pounds. Yikes. Oh wait, are these British pounds or somewhere else.

The previous posts are right on, I have had the same problems.
