New (to me) 1999 v70 R AWD. I want to hardwire a radar detector. I'd like to install using reading lamp cluster by rear-view mirror. Is there a problem with this? Will I burn up wires?

    I ran a wire down the A-pillar to the accesory block on the drivers side. You can find information about this block in your owners manual. I was worried about what you are worried about.

      I have tapped into the red and black wires on the underside of the cigarette-lighter socket in the console. The circuit is always "off" when the car is "off" and "on" when the car is "on".
