Caliper replacement & now noise from rotor getting worse 850 1994

Right front caliper replaced 10 days ago due to being frozen. There was more brake wear on right front than left; at this time brakes were bled and flushed. Was told that rotor was chewed but that it "still had surface area" and that there was plenty of brake pad left so opted not to pay the additional $ to replace both front rotors and pads.
Driving away from the dealership I still heard a sound (though faint) coming from the right front wheel - I went back and had the mechanic who serviced the car drive with me (naturally the noise disappeared). He assured me that anything I heard was a residual noise from the divet left in the rotor from the frozen caliper and that it might "work its way out" and that it wasn't a safety issue - but that if the noise drove me crazy I could have the rotors resurfaced (I'm thinking: why bother with that).
2 days later I'm driving the car and notice the sound is getting worse - sounds just like it did before I had the caliper replaced. Service rep won't let me talk with the mechanic but assures me it's not a safety issue. Says rust build-up on the rotors is what's causing the noise - but then mentions something about the pin set - says "he was probably trying to save you money and lubed up the pin set instead of replacing it, so now the lube has worn off and there's some resistance there." Tells me that the noise is from the chewed rotor rubbing on the brake pads.
So if someone could explain to me why the noise I'm hearing (which is definitely as bad as it was before I had this repair done and in fact seems to be getting worse) is there now that there's a new caliper on the wheel, I'd appreciate it. By not "replacing the pin set" - well, what does that mean? Does that mean that the hardware (pin set) that actuates the caliper itself is old and therefore not working and therefore this brand new caliper is in fact seizing against the rotor?
I don't want to be driving around with this loud noise coming from my front wheel and just accepting it as "not a safety issue" when I paid for this repair and assumed it was going to alleviate the noise I was hearing and alleviate the issue of a frozen caliper.
Thanks for any info.
