I'm looking to replace my wiper blades. I don't want to replace the original blade assembly just the rubber blade. I've never noticed the contours of the passenger blade nor the attachment to the driver's assembly which I do not want to give up. There must be a simple process to slide the rubber blade off. Please help or give suggestions. Thanks...

    First of all, you must buy the narrow refills. Get Bosch Micro Edge if you can. PepBoys has stopped carrying them here. I rarely replace the whole blade, just the refill.

    I just grabbed mine at the end where the rubber flares to hold the refills in and gave them a good pull and they slid right out. Feed the new refills back in and make sure you push them in far enough to lock in place. Some replacement brands have metal clips to secure them rather than the widdening of the rubber. Others have plastic retainers.

    If I understand well you want to replace just the rubber blade as opposed to the complete metal + rubber wiper.

    Rather often with a bit of persuasion you can just slide it out. If not you should slightly open the two retaining pieces on the front of the wiper (i.e. where the rubber is not) towards the end of the wiper, using a small screwdriver for example, and then slide the blade out. I did this myself a couple of weeks ago on my S70 and didn't even have to bend the retaining pieces back for the new blade to be properly secured.

      That's exactly what I want to do, but I hate having to bend those two tabs. There must be a way by sliding out the two thin sheets of metal within the blade itself.

        You only need to bend the tabs a little and, if you don't overdo it, you will not have to bend them back.
