Tranny Flush 850 1994

looks like i'm gonna flush the tranny myself .
Couple of questions .
1) how does the clip come off ? Is it the top hose connected to the radiator
on the drivers side
2) Mobil 1 , is it the best way to go ?
3) 12 quarts should do it ?

Oil change ,

I go through about 2 quarts of oil between changes . 3500 Miles.

Would changing to mobil one be a good move .
Also ,using Mobil 1 ,how many miles should I go between changes.

Thanks for the help.

Good idea to change o-ring on tranny hose as long as you have it disconnected. Also have a spare clip in case you damage the old while removing. I also found having spare handy when putting in new radiator - only one of two clips usable when down!

And depending on how bad ATF I might use dino ATF fluid for this change and then go to mobil one after a few thousand miles and the crap that missed the first change is now suspended in the fluid and you start the mobil one with as clean a tranny as you can get. 12 quarts should do it - regular mobil 12 qt case at Sam's Club only about $13

Well, I'm biased, and think AMSOIL would be a better choice. But Mobil 1 is an excellent ATF.

Far as the engine oil--changing to synthetic is a good idea. I recommend using a good flush before the change. Best I know of are made by AMSOIL and BG. If you don't, or won't, flush, go ahead and change. Keep an eye out for a sudden increase in oil consumption--if you note this, change the oil filter and top off. You might want to change the first batch of synthetic after 4-5,000 miles anyhow. Mobil recommends sticking to the auto manufacturer's recommended drain interval. Don't know what your 94 calls for, probably about 7500 miles.
With oil analysis, you could probably go farther. I use AMSOIL, and change it yearly (about 10,000 miles on most of my cars).

1. Clip spreads apart. You can find the seam.
2. Mobile 1 is fine
3. I'd suggest 16 qts.

I seem to remember squeezing the clip...squeeze the two sides in towards the hose and then pull the hose out. It's good to have an extra clip on hand in case it breaks as well. But mine is an S70 and is probably different.

BAY15 is good reference for this job.
