hello everbody.
i've only had it 2 days and all was working for the journey home approx 65 miles, rainy day but warm ,i live in london,got kids so i bought a volvo it's an 850 se 2.5 estate manual and i love it, a little juicy but anyway the problem is :
with the engine running the, headlights, indicators, side mirrors and seatbelt warning lights don't work but when engine is off and key in position II all work ok. highbeam is ok and hazards ok i have checked the fuse fro the indicators and seems ok ( only visual inspection) i suspected a relay and have had a quick look but don't know exactly what to look for. car novice but i know a bit
and the abs light is on,but this also was off for the journey home.
key fob doesn't work have replaced battery but i would like to try the 5 time ignition thing.if some kind soul will give me the details.

any help that anyone has will greatly appreciated

    Common ignition key problem.. just switch backwards slightly right after you start the engine.
    The key should be under 2 dash position right after start.

      tried this and it works
      the bay 13 chaps came up with this also but the said wiggle the key, your suggestion works a little better but both ways have saved me alot of grief.

      once again many thanks for your help.

      just a note to say thanks to all involved in these forums and i shall contribute whenever i can help to someone like me!

        The key wiggle trick is not a permanent fix, you will really need to replace the electrical section of the ignition switch to sort this out. It is not hard to do if you follow the bay 13 procedure.
